Rising Welsh jewellery brand Clogau Gold (pronounced "clog-eye") is setting its sights on taking two prestigious awards at next months Chambers of Commerce Business Awards for Wales.

Short-listed from hundreds of businesses across Wales, Clogau is aiming to win both the Welsh Company of the Year and Marketing Excellence awards.

This would seal Clogau’s growing success in the UK jewellery market, which, despite the effects of the recession and the overall contraction of the jewellery market in 2009, continues to show no signs of slowing.

The annual awards, presented during an awards gala on the final day of the Chambers of Commerce Business Week, recognises the outstanding achievements of member and non-member businesses, acknowledging their contribution to the Welsh economy.

Clogau certainly has the credentials to take the awards.

From a standing start in the early 1990s with just 5 products and as many employees, Clogau’s unique range of handcrafted jewellery containing rare Welsh gold is now available in over 500 outlets throughout the UK, including the likes of H Samuel and F Hinds.

The last 3 years have seen a dramatic rise in business. So much so that Clogau is now one of the fastest growing jewellery brands on the UK high street.

According to statistics published in Retail Jeweller magazine, an industry-leading magazine that uses information provided by the Company of Master Jewellers, Clogau was the number one high street gold brand for the month of June. Click to view Retail Jeweller Magazine's June Barometer.
